Strengthening and supporting the street children program

Area — Education
Beneficiaries — A hundred children and 22 families of reintegrated children
This initiative supports the effective implementation of the Programme de Protection des Enfants des Rues (PPER), a long-standing program developed by Grandir Ailleurs to assist street children in Antsirabe. The project is structured around three key areas:
- The Mobile Outreach Team: Conducting fieldwork that includes individual counseling, recreational activities, awareness sessions, and group discussions. A new vehicle was recently acquired, and funds were reallocated to equip it for these missions, enhancing the team’s ability to reach children in need.
- The Temporary Shelter: The shelter has expanded its team with the recruitment of a third educator and has introduced workshops on traditional music, offering children a creative outlet and a means of cultural connection.
- Strengthening Social Support and Reintegration: This component focuses on rebuilding family ties between street children and their families. Particular attention has been given to improving follow-up for beneficiaries reintegrated into school or vocational training programs. The recruitment of a professional reintegration officer has facilitated partnerships with schools and businesses, significantly increasing the project’s impact in this area.
Partnership between Give a Hand and Grandir Ailleurs
Grandir Ailleurs has been a trusted partner with whom we have collaborated on multiple initiatives. Our support has extended across various programs, helping the organization achieve a degree of financial self-sufficiency. This project is essential for ensuring the association’s continued success while addressing key areas for improvement.

"Family, health, well-being, safety, education, culture, sports, and human connection—these are the building blocks of a person’s development. Progress is only possible through commitment and shared expertise."

Founder and director of the Fédération Grandira, Mr. Jean Christophe Naal and his wife Sapho Naal, have observed that tourism can be a wonderful development tool for a series of projects aimed at defending the fundamental rights of street children in Madagascar. In 2007, began the very first field project in Antsirabe. This will be the beginning of this beautiful adventure, which has been going on for thirteen years. The organization Grandir Ailleurs is now supervised by Ms. Laurie Andriamanarivo, project coordinator based in Antsirabe.
