Cochabamba — Bolivia

A string orchestra to prevent dropout and delinquency (phase2)

String orchestra project in vulnerable communities

Beneficiaries — 30 boys and girls aged 8 to 18

The Wayra Orchestra project aims to prevent school dropout and delinquency among children and adolescents from multi-problem families living in marginal areas of the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia. Project activities include theory classes, learning a string instrument (violin, viola or cello), ensemble music, concerts and social skills development workshops. These activities not only contribute to the development of new skills, but they also allow for the development of attention, memory, consistency, concentration, self-esteem and social skills of young people who might otherwise be tempted to leave school and end up on the streets.

The Estrellas en la Calle ( Stars from the street) has been a partner organization of Give a Hand since September 2021. For Give a Hand, supporting this initiative for a second year is a great way to contribute to the artistic development of these young people.
